Lia
The Bride
Lia hails from Winnipeg but grew up soaking up the sun in Kavala, Greece—talk about a cultural mashup! As an optician, she’s got a sharp eye for style, but her true talents lie in finding the best food spots and planning spontaneous trips. Whether she’s sampling street food or getting lost in a new city, Lia approaches every adventure with a big smile and a full belly.
Get ready for a wedding filled with love, laughter, and maybe a few too many delicious snacks!

Vasilis
The Groom
Vasilis grew up in Piraeus, Greece, where he mastered the art of navigating both the bustling city and the latest tech trends. As a talented software developer, he’s the go-to guy for anything tech-related (good luck getting him to stop talking about his newest 3D printed gadget). When he’s not coding, you can find him dreaming up his next travel adventure, exploring new places with the same enthusiasm he brings to problem-solving.
With quick wit and love for life, Vasilis is ready to take on this exciting new journey with Lia by his side!

Stelios Daftsos
The Best Man
Stelios has been the Lia’s partner-in-crime since their school days in Kavala, Greece. He is a certified Yoga instructor and sound bath treatment healer, so don’t be surprised if he brings some zen vibes to the wedding. When he’s not getting people to stretch or relax with soothing sounds, you can find him at the piano, where he’s probably convincing himself he’s the next pop sensation.
With boundless energy and a knack for keeping things fun, Stelios has been the bride’s best friend through thick and thin, and their lifelong friendship is full of laughs, music, and a little bit of mischief (not always by choice)!
The Wedding
Ceremony
Holy temple of the Ascension of the Lord
The wedding will be held in the Holy Temple of the Ascension of the Lord on Saturday, June 21st, 2025, at 18:30.
The Holy Temple of the Ascension of the Lord is located at the beautiful village of Gialiskari, in the north part of the island of Ikaria. The Holy Temple was initially built on a small island across the village that was later connected to the rest of the island to form the cove of Gialiskari. (Map)
Wedding Gift Optional
As we have been sharing a home for some time, we have decided not to have a traditional gift list. Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift of all. However, if you wish to honour us with a gift, a cash gift would be very welcome.

Destination Information
Ikaria, Greece. The island where people forget to die. When you get on the island, you’re met with pure nature, wild beauty, stunning mountain landscapes, unspoiled beaches & friendly people. Did you know it was its own country for about 4 months? Here’s a few links to help you get to know the island better:

Flights
Flying to Greece tends to be on the expensive side, especially in the summer. If you don’t have a personal travel agent, we suggest you visit the following sites to peruse their offers:
Accomodations
Gialiskari is a relatively small village, but with quite a few options of hotels and rentals. We have made arrangements with Marinos Rooms & Apartments to offer preferred pricing to our guests. You can contact them via phone or email.
If you’re seeking a more luxurious experience, you might want to look into Erofili Beach Hotel, Cabos Bay Hotel & Studios, or Toxotis Villas.
Public Transport
If you want to enjoy Ikaria and everything the island has to offer, you will need to travel from place to place. During the summer season a local network of buses connects major transportation points and towns in Ikaria.
The bus schedules are not available in advance of the summer season so you need to check locally in Ikaria for current times and days.
Taxis
A fleet of local taxis are available on Ikaria and it is recommended to arrange your trip in advance by calling the drivers. Designated taxis stands can also be found at the airport and ports of Evdilos and Agios Kirikos, where it is possible to sometimes hail a taxi on the spot, but it is always best to arrange your trip in advance.
For Taxi driver contact info and more information on charges and fares, please visit http://www.island-ikaria.com/travel/Local-Transportation.
Car Rentals
Even though there is public transit and taxis, driving is the fastest and best way to get around and explore Ikaria. You can find an interactive map of the island to assist with driving distances and travel times here.
Please remember to get an international driver’s license.
We’ve arranged with a rental company on the island, Kampos Car Rentals, to provide a deal on rental cars, and they also offer airport pickup and drop off. You can book online or email them at info@ikaria-kampos-cars.gr. Remember to inform them you’re the guests for Lia & Vasilis’s wedding.
